Christmas. Christmas this year was rather lame for me, not gonna lie. I seriously got like, 12 presents, and I'm returning 5 of them, three from grandmother because they're kinda icky ("I'm not short I'm fun sized" shirt? Yeah, not after figuring out how my classmates interpret that phrase. Or before. Seriously, how stupid is it to wear a shirt that says you're short when that's already rather evident? It's just redundant, plus I don't appreciate the innuendo) and the others because it was two bottles of lotion of the same scent that I already have a glitter tube, regular bottle, and travel bottle of. The best things I got were a Star Wars game for Wii, mini CHI iron/hairdryer set, "Hair" shirt from my ever-fabulous godmother, Christian Siriano's book, and a check for $200 from grandmother which I plan to use for new shoes and clothes. Don't get me wrong, I'm greatful, just kinda let down a bit. I was hoping for someone to get me a gift card for a crafts/fabric store so I can work on my portfolio, but I guess I'll just have to allot a portion of my paycheck for that once I start working here in the next two months.
I was also kinda hoping for the parentals to be like "Here's a piece of paper that says we're getting you new glasses so you can see!" Maybe I can convince Mother to get me some over break, because I'm really sick of not being able to see. I mean, it's totally obvious that a significantly higher amount was spend on my siblings and right now Sams has great glasses for under $90 including frames, lenses and scratch-proof coating, plus they have the Oscar de la Renta frames that I die for. As much as I love my current frames, the lenses are super outdated and don't match my prescription for contacts so I get a headache switching between the two, hence I rarely wear my contacts. Well, that and I'd rather wear glasses for everyday because they make more of a statement than contacts, plus they make my face look less chipmunk-like; I really only wanted contacts for dance competitions, stage stuff, and cosplay and never had any intention of wearing them for everyday except maybe things where my glasses might fall off like riding rides at a theme park or something.
Oh ho I'm really hoping the parentals will let me have a few people over for New Years or go to someone else's house (though I think my parents are the only ones crazy enough to have multiple teenagers over). I really like the idea of making snacky foods right now, so if the parentals don't let me have anyone over I think I'll make lots of snack food for the youth lock in, which I'm really looking forward to.
Today we're going out for Chinese because we don't want leftover food, as we're leaving to visit my grandparents tomorrow. I tried to get out of going to Iowa but failed miserably, which really sucks, so now I'll be packing into the car for an 8 hour trip with the fams, hopefully sleeping through much of it, then suffer through almost three full days of arctic hell complete with 18 inches of snow (ew), a sofa bed I have to share with my space and blanket hogging sister (I think I may end up sleeping in the recliner) and very little to do besides go to thrift stores. Not that I don't love thrift stores, but going shopping with my entire family is lame because I can't look at the things I want to in peace. On the plus side, I'll get Happy Joe's pizza and *hopefully* get to see my fiercely fabulous godmother, plus we're going to this really nifty Irish pub, so I'll get some yummy food there. I greatly look forward to getting back so I can finish decorating and switching over my room and go shopping for clothes and shoes. I really need a haircut too, but sadly the school I go to to get my hair done doesn't reopen until after my break, so I'll have to go sometime that week and get my hair done. I already have something in mind for that, oh ho it's going to be fabulous.
*sigh* Once again I'm very random and long on my journal. Sorry for that, I kinda needed to get some stuff out, though. Anyway, happy Christmas one and all! Hope your Christmas is less lame than mine!
